STARS Children Africa believes African orphans are a key resource for Africa’s future and seeks to enable them to become STARS: “Student Transforming Africa and Its Renewing Its Society”.

Our mission is to educate African orphans and develop them into future leaders by partnering with local mentors.

“Character Camp” results in renewed STARS focus

It was indeed wonderful and the most exciting time I have ever had with the students.” Pastor Joshua emailed in August. “They … repented … They accepted your forgiveness and my forgiveness.” What happened at the two week “Character Camp” for over 50 STARS during their August school break?

Character traits of honesty and integrity. Pastor Joshua and his wife, Abigael, led sessions on character development. This fulfills a critical need for STARS who have been orphaned through traumatic experiences and who lack role models. The goal is to instill Christian-based principles through lessons, mentoring and real life examples. Read the examples of 25 changed hearts and refreshed attitudes for the last trimester of 2007. 48 Million Orphans

The Need

Sub-Saharan Africa has 48 milllion orphans, 25% of them have lost their parents to AIDs and many more will become HIV positive. Without education or another option they will enter into prostitution or join gangs contributing to the social and economic problems their countries face. Read more

 

The Opportunity We See

Orphans represent 6% of sub-Saharan Africa's total population, which is the youngest in the world. How this generation grows up will create a risk or a resource for Africa. We see an opportunity to educate and mentor these orphans to become productive citizens who positively impacting their societies and countries. Read more

 

 

How You Can Be Involved

Change a life and invest in Africa’s future. Support a qualified orphaned student as s/he completes 4 years of secondary school and life skills training to pursue higher education or enter the work force. Read more
